C, une installation de l’artiste australienne Amarie Bergman pour ParisCONCRET, vise, dans sa simplicité réductrice, à placer le spectateur « dans un espace indéterminé, lumineux, dans la contemplation attentive » en expérimentant la lumière et l'espace du carbone symbolique.

C, an installation by Australian artist Amarie Bergman at ParisCONCRET, aims, in its reductive simplicity, to place the viewer “in an indeterminate, luminous space, in attentive contemplation” experiencing the light and space of symbolic carbon.

ParisCONCRET présente trois artistes peintres des Pays-Bas; Linda Arts, José Heerkens, Gijs Pape. Dans leur œuvre, la lumière et l’espace constituent les sujets les plus importants. Les trois artistes se rencontrent ici, bien qu’individuellement leurs raisons, vision et processus de travail soient différents.

ParisCONCRET presents three artists from the Netherlands; Linda Arts, José Heerkens, Gijs Pape. In their work, light and space are the most important subjects. These artists come together in their abstract approach to these topics although individually their reasoning, vision and work processes are different.

En octobre ParisCONCRET présente des peintures d'Arjan Janssen (nl), Irène Kivinen (fr) et Michel Mousseau (fr).
Chacun de ces artistes construit une image avec de la peinture à travers un processus qui prend du temps.
Le processus implique des décisions sur la forme, les proportions, l’échelle, la couleur, le ton, la surface et le bord. Le travail concerne l’utilisation de la matière et le jeu de la lumière afin de définir un monde intérieur – peut-être pour définir quelque chose d’invisible – et le travail concerne la peinture.

During Octobre ParisCONCRET presents paintings by Arjan Janssen (nl), Irène Kivinen (fr) and Michel Mousseau (fr).
Each of these artists constructs an image with paint through a process which takes time. The process involves decisions about shape and proportion, scale, colour, tone, surface and edge. The work is about using material and the play of light to define an interior world – perhaps to bring definition to something invisible – and it is about painting.

En septembre ParisCONCRET présente le travail de Federica Nadalutti, Antoine Nelen et Thierry Thomen; trois artistes français qui font leurs recherches sur les propriétés physiques et constructives de la peinture abstraite.
Chacun d'eux a récemment élaboré de diverses déconstructions, reconstructions et permutations en commençant par le format carré et l'angle à 90°.
L'invention et la simplicité s’imposent.

In September ParisCONCRET presents the work of Federica Nadalutti, Antoine Nelen et Thierry Thomen; three French artists researching the physical and constructive properties of abstract painting.
Each one has recently been working out various deconstructions, reconstructions and permutations beginning with the square format and the 90° angle.
Invention and simplicity prevail.

En août Richard van der Aa présentera à ParisCONCRET une sélection de ses 'Pièces faciles'. L'exposition sera composée de peintures monochromes sur panneaux de bois trouvés à l'abandon dans les rues de Paris. Les subtiles relations de couleur, d'échelle, de surface et de disposition activeront l'ensemble de l'espace.

During August Richard van der Aa will present a selection of his ‘Easy Pieces’ at ParisCONCRET. The exhibition will consist of monochrome paintings on wooden panels found discarded on the streets of Paris. Subtle relationships of colour, scale, surface and placement will activate the entire space.

Tous mes travaux commencent par les émerveillements. Tout dépend de la perception de l'espace physique et l'espace visuel. En cause sont la réalité et la perception, l'interprétation et la mésinterprétation, la connaissance et la manque de connaissance. Toujours liés à l'espace.

As with all of the work I do, it starts with wonder. It all comes down to the difference (or not) between physical and visual space. It deals with reality and perception, interpretation and misinterpretation, knowledge and the lack of. Always space related.

ParisCONCRET invite Bogumila Strojna, artiste franco-polonaise, de créer une installation in situ.

Dans cet espace, Strojna poursuit son travail autour de la grammaire cubique, et cette fois-ci se penche sur le caractère polysémique de l’objet. L’objet (la grille), n’est que le quadrillage rigoureux de l’espace et pourtant les signifiants multiples se bousculent pour le nommer. Le spectateur est créateur de ce travail subtil de déchiffrage.

About her work in general Michele says: "The intangible nature of painting and the indefinable nature of the experience of art beyond nameable things determine the tricky terrain of my studio practice."

Notre objet :
- de créer un point de convergence à Paris pour les artistes et toute autre personne qui s’intéresse à « l’art concret » [y compris tous les arts plastiques non objectifs, minimalistes, réductifs ou abstractions géométriques]
- favoriser l’échange entre les artistes internationaux et encourager les projets collaboratifs
- promouvoir les œuvres récentes créées par des artistes qui travaillent dans ce domaine et les diffuser par des livres, bulletins, conférences, expositions, médias, et tous moyens autorisés par la loi
- éventuellement rassembler une collection d’œuvres d’art dans ce domaine comme outil au service du public

Very soon this new space at Nation, Paris will be opening for the exhibition of non-objective art. Richard and Anna van der Aa will be overseeing the proceedings and working to create a calendar of international shows for the year to come. Expressions of interest from artists working in the concrete domain are welcome.

Très bientôt cette nouvelle espace à Nation, Paris ouvrira pour l'exposition d'art non-objectif. Richard et Anna van der Aa dirigent les événements et créent un agenda d'art international pour l'année qui vient. Expressions d'intérêt des artistes qui travaillent dans le domaine concret sont bienvenues.

At this stage the ParisCONCRET space is a virtual one - it exists only in the form of this blog. The intention is that it will become a physical exhibition space in Paris before too long. My hope is that ParisCONCRET will become a place of fruitful interaction and dialogue. I would appreciate your comments. Richard van der Aa
