The works in this exhibition have spent much of their life in my studio drawers – notes to myself when my mind is my own.

Doucement
ParisCONCRET entame la nouvelle saison avec douceur ce mois-ci. « Doucement » mettra en avant des peintures calmes dans lesquelles l'apparence modeste dément la rigueur qui a été appliquée à leur construction.

Poste Concret
«Poste Concret» est une exposition d'œuvres de la taille d’une carte postale envoyées par «la Poste» par les artistes invités. Ce sera l’occasion pour ParisCONCRET, une association à but non lucratif, de recueillir des fonds.
Plus d’une centaine d’artistes ont offert des oeuvres dont le prix de vente sera fixé à 50€. Les œuvres sont aussi visibles en ligne (voir ci-dessous). Contactez-nous pour réserver votre choix (contact@parisconcret.org).
'Poste Concret' is an exhibition of postcard sized works sent via 'la Poste' by invited artists. This is a fundraising event for ParisCONCRET (a non profit organisation).
Over 100 artists have donated work and each piece will be for sale at an exceptional price of 50€. The work is also posted online (see below). Email us to reserve your selection (contact@parisconcret.org).

Matter matters
In ‘Matter matters’ ParisCONCRET presents the work of three artists engaged with the literal ‘stuff’ of painting. Helen Calder (nz) and Ilona Hakvoort (nl) display colour without support - the paint itself is the thing.
Sophie Knezic (au) exhibits painstakingly cut paper forms in which the nothing is as much as the thing.

Offspring

In this exhibition of work by Judith Duquemin (uk/au), Jocelyne Santos (fr) and Bogumila Strojna (fr) we might consider, for example, the legacy of Mondrian, currently on exhibition at Centre Georges Pompidou.

Cross field
The works of the four Danish artists featured in the exhibition Cross field range from photography to installation and find their common ground in a crossroads where the common denominator is art with formal and conceptual roots that reveal surprising depths upon closer inspection.
Les travaux des quatre artistes danois présentés dans cette exposition Cross field vont de la photographie à l'art in situ, et font cause commune dans un carrefour où le dénominateur commun est l'art avec des racines formelles et conceptuelles qui, si on les regarde de plus près, révèlent des profondeurs surprenantes.

ParisCONCRET's first show for 2011 will highlight work by painters Lon Godin (Amsterdam) and Marie Thurman (Paris).
These artists both create enigmatic 'all over' images which emerge as the products of refined physical processes.

"There'll be none of that French stuff here."
- Sir Robert Menzies (former Prime Minister of Australia) when asked about his thoughts on modernism and its effect on contemporary art in Australia circa 1940.
Australian artist John Adair will present a site-specific work, in part reflecting on Australia's rocky history in relation to contemporary European culture.
Lorsque Robert Menzies, qui fut Premier ministre de 1939-1941 et de 1949-1966, fut interrogé sur ses pensées sur le modernisme et son effet sur l'art contemporain en Australie, il répondit: « Il n'y aura rien de ces choses françaises ici ».
L'artiste australien John Adair présentera un travail in situ, reflétant en partie l'histoire compliquée de l'Australie par rapport à la culture européenne contemporaine.

Elemental
Nadya Bertaux, Anne Brochot, Myrianne Perelmuter; trois artistes parisiens qui, pour cette exposition, apportent chacun une approche de type peinture à la physicalité de la sculpture. Ce n'est pas par l'ajout de peinture ou de couleur, mais à travers les interactions de la forme élémentaire et du matériel qui se déroulent par rapport au mur.
Nadya Bertaux, Anne Brochot, Myrianne Perelmuter; three Parisian artists who, for this exhibition, each bring a painterly approach to the physicality of sculpture. This is not via the addition of paint or colour but through the interactions of elemental form and material played out in relation to the wall.
